Identity

This film had a great setup, excellent atmosphere, and interesting characters. I was genuinely guessing who the killer could possibly be, and expecting to be wrong and be surprised.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t surprised. I guessed Rhodes’ (Ray Liotta) guilt from the minute the character appeared.

The twist, however, was certainly surprising – and not in a good way. I cannot believe that the culmination of the entire film is that everything took place inside Malcolm Rivers’ (Pruitt Taylor Vince) mind. This is literally the equivalent of ending a story with a character waking up to find that it was all a dream.

Timmy (Bret Loehr) being revealed as the actual killer at the end of the film is garbage icing on a dumpster fire cake.

Identity is a decent film brutally murdered by either a horrible idea or the inability to formulate a decent conclusion.
