Alpha

on

Everything about this film is bad.

The CGI is horrific. I’ve seen better in video games from 5 years ago.

The plot is absurd. Keda (Kodi Smit-McPhee) breaks his foot or ankle, then proceeds to walk dozens of miles on it. Then he carries a 100+ plus pound wolf. It’s okay though, he’s got that stick splint. It’s all good.

A wolf is injured by a menial laceration to its shoulder, to the point that it lays down and apparently gives up on life. The wolf then, instead of killing Keda for food, decides to follow him.

Keda should have died of starvation, lack of water, exposure, hypothermia, wild animals, infection, etc. That wouldn’t be a fun, uplifting movie though, would it?

Don’t even get me started on the ending. Alpha, though giving no sign of being pregnant, miraculously gives birth to pups. I’ve been around a lot of pregnant canines, and I can assure you that wolf was not pregnant.

Alpha is an idiotic, painfully boring film that didn’t need to exist.
